I only want to update my outlook contacts through workbooks, if I make a change to a contact in outlook I do not want it to update the entry in workbooks.

Hi,
This can easily be achieved by use of permissions, see the guide below:
First of all create a new user which will be used just for synchronisation between workbooks and outlook. Make sure this user has the outlook connector as an allocated extension.
Next you will need to change the permissions for this user so they can only read records, not modify them. You will first need to create a custom rule set.

Add some rules to this new rule set so it looks something like the screenshot below.

You can then apply this custom rule set to people records and any other records you wish to sync with outlook.

Once your permissions are set up correctly for this user, log in as that user on the outlook connector

Next, go to the WOC control panel and add some filters (if any) to each record type you want to synchronise.
Run the sync and your contacts/records in outlook will update from workbooks.
If I look at the contact in outlook, all the fields are read only as this user does not have permission to edit them in workbooks.
