Report Output options

External Posted: 2011-04-11 09:58

 Hi,

I need to share the information contained in a report with someone who does have access to Workbooks and I wanted to explore report output options. Now the exporting to Excel option seems to give the best choice but if I didn't go through that route

a) Can I use the print preview option to produce output in landscape mode

b)  Can I direct the print preview output to pdf?

Rgds

Hi Kevin,

a) Yes. It's a print setting rather than a Workbooks setting. Click the Print icon in the top right of the report.  What happens next is dependent on your browser choice.  Chrome: Click the "Click here to print this window" text in the top right.  A Print window should appear > Click Preferences button > Finishing tab > Select Landscape or Portrait Orientation.

b) Yes, if you have software on your PC that allows you to do so.  It's worth bearing in mind that PDF is just one file type.  It's an Adobe file format, which is very popular.  Microsoft's similar offering is the XPS format.  When I click print in any program I have the option of selecting one of the office printers.  I have the option to print to "Microsoft XPS Document Writer".  It created an XPS file e.g. report.XPS.  If you had a piece of "Print to PDF software" then it would work in a similar manner.

NOTE: Beware of pop-up blockers.  They have a nasty habit of blocking print pop-up windows.  The following forum article provides assistance - disabling pop-up blockers.
