Modifying the columns available in a search

Alex Posted: 2019-07-26 09:02

Hi Support,

we would like to be able to modify the columns that are available to see in a search. Specifically, in opportunity we have the prospective customer field which when you start to type a name it auto populates sugestions, sometime we need to use the saecrh icon next to the field. When we do it brings up a new search window. We type the name of the organisation we want to find and it returns hits. The columns shown do not include telephone number and there is no way of adding this field in the search view by selecting columns.

how can we modify the search to return fields that we are interested in please?
thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for getting in touch.

In order to get telephone to appear in this list, I would need to raise an enhancement with our Development team to make a case for including this in a future version of the product. Can I ask what the use case would be for needing to expose this field? My understanding is that the primary focus of this search is to quickly find people/orgs as you begin to type their name, and the telephone number would be exposed on the person/org record once it has been added anyway.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Kind regards,

Workbooks Support

Hi Sam,

We import leads into our database that are supplied by an external provider. They have prospective customers for each one and they are large construction companies with regional divisions and offices, however the name they allocate for each can be the same. If we could see town and number come up in the search we can easily discriminate between offices and also get to the tel number quickly without having to click through several records. It seems daft that I can have access to home phone and other phone but not the town or main telephone number.

Also there are many fields which we would never search by, all the dynamics ones, gender?? (shouldn’t have that choice in todays world),
We don’t know if this list was created when we set up our database for the 1st time. If you can we would really appreciate you revising which columns can be displayed from the search.
